Evans Brown Mortuary

Evans was born on June 27, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Estelle Evans. He departed this life on Thursday, May 9, 2019.Mr. Evans retired after serving 23 years in the U.S. Army. He served three tours in Vietnam and received the Distinguished Award of the Bronze Star. Mr. Evans was a faithful member of Victory Interdenominational Church.He leaves to cherish his memory: a nephew, Fred C. (Kamala) Henley Jr.; a niece, Wanda Henley (Orlando) Jones; a brother-in-law, Morris (Janice) Brown; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to his mother, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra V. Brown.Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.Mr. Evans will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Friday for viewing until the hour of service.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29154 with Pastor Joann P. Murrill officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the home, 1060 Willcroft Drive, Sumter, SC 29154.Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S.
